I use almost entirely Spitfire for this, but also have the Embertone Clarinet in the mix. Also, when I need some pad-like glue, I actually will throw in some of the dynamic ensemble string patches from the original Symphobia, believe it or not, and they have a low-strings-with-bass-synth thing that works well. Sometimes I'll layer shorts with the Metropolis ones, or even the Action Strings library. Piano/Celeste/Harp - Piano mostly the Spitfire orchestral grand, celeste is Spitfire, Harp is usually Orchestral Tools. And some usual suspects like Damage or Stormdrum I sometimes use Orchestral Tools glock, but only sometimes.
I'll throw in the occasional Hollywood solo horn, too, and Metropolis horns for that thing. The rest of the template I recently replaced lock-stock-and-barrel with Adventure Brass. God damn I love the expression on that stuff. It's currently the only library I'm using but I'm going to add Embertone's clarinet, because that thing sounds great.īrass - For solos, or quiet ensemble stuff, Samplemodeling. Woods - Berlin, which is sort of all over the map with inconsistencies in sound and performance but you can make it work. But still, I have my go-to's, and basically it's this: "What do you use for library?" The technically-I-answered-you-but-didn't-really-feel-like-it answer is: It depends I use different libraries for different things. I get this constantly - I guess we all do.
